All About Emma Edwards...

Bridle & Bramble Learning has grown from both my professional experience in education and a lifelong connection with horses.

I have worked in education for over 20 years, including senior leadership roles and Headship within independent schools. Throughout my career, I have been committed to creating environments where children feel safe, supported, and able to thrive, academically and personally. I have extensive experience in curriculum design, personalised learning, and supporting children with a wide range of needs, including those who may find traditional school environments challenging.

Alongside my work in education, horses have always been a constant in my life.

I have had ponies since I was three years old, and they have remained a quiet but powerful influence throughout both my childhood and professional life. My first pony, Sweet William, taught me some of my earliest lessons in boundaries; often quite literally by depositing me on the ground when he felt I had asked enough of him. Those early experiences instilled a deep respect for animals, as well as an understanding of patience, consistency, and self-awareness.

Over the years, horses have been my sanctuary; a place of calm, reflection, and perspective. More recently, I have enjoyed breeding and producing my own young horses, further deepening my understanding of development, trust, and the importance of getting the foundations right.

It is only in recent years that I have fully recognised how powerful this connection can be within education; this moved me to complete my Equine Therapy Practitioner certification in January 2026.

Working with ponies offers children something unique. It provides immediate, honest feedback; encourages responsibility and empathy; and creates opportunities for children to develop confidence in a natural and meaningful way. For many children, it allows them to feel calm, present, and capable, sometimes for the first time in a learning environment.

Bridle & Bramble Learning brings these two parts of my life together.

It is a place where high-quality teaching sits alongside real, grounded experiences, where children can build strong academic foundations while also developing confidence, independence, and a genuine sense of self.

Where confidence grows naturally

“I have observed that ponies teach patience, nature sparks curiosity, and an inspiring setting enables children to rediscover the joy of learning.”

Come and meet our wonderful ponies and see what all the fuss is about!

Our calm, nature connected alternative to the traditional classroom is designed to complement each child’s home education journey rather than replace school.

Parents remain fully responsible for overseeing and enriching their child’s education, while children benefit from expert led English and Maths workshops, mixed age collaboration, experiential learning and time with horses and ponies.

Small, trusted groups help children build confidence, communication, resilience and meaningful friendships, creating regular opportunities for connection and shared learning that can sometimes be harder to find within home education.
